As you know, our team has been working very hard to resume offering in-person classes this term. As more in-person classes, workshops and events are organized in the next few months, we hope you will drop by our office to spend time with other Francophiles. In the meantime, here is a quick preview of what our new offices look like!
A beginner level group just starting to learn French basics!
Our team has been busy organizing our new Spring and Summer schedules and we are now ready to welcome our students and members back in AFW! While more work will be happening in our offices during the next few months to make them fully ready for the Fall, as you can see we already have a few classrooms ready to welcome children and adult classes.
Our main classroom will welcome up to 8 students, although in the next few months we will limit each group to a maximum of 6 students in order to allow for social distancing. The classroom will also be rearranged based on the type of lessons or activities conducted at the time. All classrooms are equipped with Wifi, so as usual our teachers can use rich audio-visual contents during their lessons to make our classes as alive as possible.
One of our classrooms will now be specialized for little ones! As our immersion programs start from 6 months old onward, we wanted to make sure our new offices could provide a comfortable classroom for our youngest members and students. As usual, young children and toddlers will mainly learn French through songs, games, and physical activities which will allow them to experience the French language as if they were in France.
Right now, our team is still working on getting other classrooms ready, as well as our library corner. Our library is being reorganized to
make it easier for our members to find the best of French literature, as well as children books, magazines and bandes dessinées
for our younger members! We are currently seeking volunteers to help us organize our library corner, as well as to schedule regular
activities for book lovers, so feel free to contact us if you have some spare time over the next few
months!
Other activities which we used to offer in White Plains before the pandemic are likely to resume in September. If you're interested in our workshops, immersion workshops or discussion groups, don't worry, we're working on all those activities and we will announce our Fall schedule as soon as possible! In the meantime, feel free to let us know what you would like to see happening at AFW during the upcoming school year. As many of our students have now opted for regular online classes rather than in-person ones, our schedule of in-person activities is likely to evolve over the next few months, and of course we want to hear from you before deciding what would be best. We're hoping to offer more social gatherings and cultural activities, for both children and adults, and we can't wait to see you soon at AFW!
When you arrive at AFW, you'll see our reception desk straight away. Alice, our receptionist, will be happy to help you with any questions you might have!
